Throughout the Practical Magic books and film, salt is more than a kitchen staple.  It’s one of the oldest and most trusted forms of protection. Whether poured across a threshold, scattered around a home, or formed into a circle, salt is believed to create a barrier against unwanted energies, offering safety to those within it. Long before Practical Magic, cultures around the world used salt in rituals of cleansing, purification, and protection, making it one of folklore's most enduring symbols.

That timeless tradition inspired Circle of Salt.

Circle of Salt is a true salt bar, handcrafted with sea salt, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, and castor oil. Salt bars are known for their exceptional hardness, long-lasting nature, creamy lather, and gentle polishing feel on the skin. Naturally colored with activated charcoal and scented exclusively with pure essential oils of sandalwood, pine, and vetiver, this bar has a rich, earthy aroma reminiscent of ancient forests and quiet rituals.

The Botanicals

Every ingredient was chosen not only for its performance but also for the symbolic qualities long associated with it in folklore and traditional herbalism.

Sea Salt – For centuries, salt has symbolized purification, protection, and the ability to cleanse away unwanted influences. It has long been used in protective circles, blessings, and cleansing rituals across countless cultures.

Activated Charcoal – Long associated with protection, purification, transformation, and absorbing negativity.

The Essential Oils

Sandalwood – Traditionally associated with grounding, spiritual clarity, protection, and inner peace.

Pine – Long connected with resilience, purification, renewal, and safeguarding the home.

Vetiver – Traditionally associated with grounding, stability, strength, and protective energy.

Because Circle of Salt is made with a high concentration of sea salt, it has a naturally textured surface when first unmolded and may appear slightly crumbly. This is completely normal for a true salt bar. After a few uses, the surface smooths beautifully while maintaining its exceptional longevity.

Circle of Salt also provides a more exfoliating feel than a traditional soap. If you prefer an ultra-smooth bar, this may not be the best fit for your skin.

Each bar weighs approximately 5.5 oz.

Because every bar is handcrafted in small batches, slight variations in color, size, and design are part of what makes each one unique.

Ingredients: Saponified oils of coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, and castor oil; sea salt, activated charcoal, sodium hydroxide (used in saponification), and pure essential oils.

Care Instructions

To help your soap last as long as possible, allow it to dry between uses. A well-draining soap dish, such as a bamboo soap holder, provides ventilation and helps extend the life of your handcrafted bar.
