Black Magic

In the Practical Magic book series, black soap is one of the Owens family's most treasured remedies. Passed down through generations of witches, it is said to be among the most powerful creations in their magical tradition. Though the recipe itself remains a mystery, the books describe black soap as brightening and smoothing the skin, making the user appear younger, washing away grief and sadness, and offering protection against illness.

Those legendary descriptions inspired Black Magic.

While this bar isn't magical, it is thoughtfully handcrafted with skin-loving ingredients chosen to create a rich, creamy lather and a luxurious cleansing experience. Black Magic is made with extra virgin olive oil, black coffee, shea butter, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, and castor oil. It is naturally colored with activated charcoal, scented exclusively with pure essential oils, and finished with a sprinkling of dried rose and calendula petals.

The Botanicals

Every ingredient in Black Magic was chosen not only for its aroma and appearance, but also for the symbolic qualities long associated with it in folklore and traditional herbalism.

• Activated Charcoal – traditionally associated with absorbing negativity, purification, protection, and transformation.
• Lavender – peace, calm, healing, and emotional balance.
• Rosemary – protection, remembrance, mental clarity, and strength.
• Spearmint – clarity, renewal, prosperity, and fresh beginnings.
• Clove – cleansing, courage, protection, and banishing unwanted energy.
• Rose – love, compassion, beauty, good fortune, and opening the heart.
• Calendula – joy, optimism, protection, and welcoming warmth and light.

Each bar weighs approximately 4.5 oz.

Because every bar is handcrafted in small batches using natural ingredients and colorants, slight variations in color, pattern, shape, and weight are part of what makes each one unique.

Ingredients: extra virgin olive oil, black coffee, shea butter, coconut oil, sodium hydroxide (lye), sweet almond oil, castor oil, activated charcoal, lavender essential oil, rosemary essential oil, spearmint essential oil, clove essential oil, rose essential oil, dried rose petals, and dried calendula petals.

Care Instructions

To help your soap last as long as possible, allow it to dry completely between uses. A draining soap dish, such as one of our bamboo soap holders, allows air to circulate around the bar, helping it dry between uses and extending its life.
